The Massachusetts Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired will present at the 1st Annual Cape Cod Low Vision Summit. The first of its kind in the area, the summit recognizes the ongoing and ever-increasing need for education and resources on vision loss in the expanding senior population. The first date, on May 20th, proved so popular that it quickly filled to capacity, so a second date has been added on June 11th. It will again be held at Thirwood Place in South Yarmouth.
MABVI’s Statewide Director Shaun Kinsella’s presentation will be entitled “Lighting, Vision, and Aging in Place” and he will discuss in-home vision rehabilitation as well as insurance coverage and assistive technology.
MABVI’s Director of Optometric Services Dr. Jen Salvo’s presentation will focus on low vision examinations and how they can improve functioning and enable people to maximize the use of their remaining vision.
All seniors, caregivers, and industry professionals are encouraged to attend. Please call Thirwood Place at 508-398-8006 to register. Additional details and directions are available at http://www.thirwoodplace.com/low-vision-summit.asp
