MABVI Sponsoring USABA National Marathon Championships at the California International Marathon

MABVI is proud to announce that we will be sponsoring the 2015 USABA National Marathon Championship at the California International Marathon (CIM).

As sponsors of the event, MABVI will be offering a number of awards to the fastest male and female athletes racing in the Visually Impaired Division who have never before run the Boston Marathon. These will include a 2016 Boston Marathon Race Registration, a travel stipend of $500, and three night’s hotel accommodations at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel & Towers.

“We are thrilled to partner with USABA in sponsorship of the U.S. National Marathon Championship,” said Barbara Salisbury, CEO of the Massachusetts Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired. “The Boston Marathon is unlike any other event, and we want to ensure that these dedicated athletes, who have trained so hard to prove that visual impairment is not a barrier to success, have the opportunity to run in the world’s most prestigious marathon.”

For the past 22 years, MABVI has fielded Team With a Vision, a team of blind and sighted athletes that runs the Boston Marathon to prove that with the right support, people who are visually impaired can do anything they set their mind to. Team With A Vision’s 2015 Boston Marathon team was one of the largest yet, fielding 72 runners from all across the U.S. as well as Canada, England, France, and Hong Kong.
